Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 12, 2026

The short version

  • Lanea stores your closet (item details and photos) so it can suggest outfits from clothes you already own.
  • Your closet is private. Other users can’t see it.
  • We use a few trusted service providers to run the app, including AI services that create outfit suggestions and remove photo backgrounds.
  • With your permission, we use Google Analytics to understand how Lanea is used. You can say no.
  • We don’t show ads, and we don’t sell or share your personal information for advertising.
  • You can delete your account and everything in it at any time, right in the app.

Who we are

Lanea (“Lanea,” “we,” “us”) is a personal wardrobe app available at lanea.app. It is operated by Cindy Brooks, based in Spain. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, email us at hello@lanea.app.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account information: your email address. If you sign in with Google, we also receive your name and profile picture from Google.
  • Your closet: the items you add, such as their name, category, colors, notes and (if you enter it) the price you paid, the photos you upload, and the days you mark pieces as worn.
  • Outfit requests: what you type when asking for outfits (for example, “business casual for a client meeting”) and the weather you choose.
  • Outfits you choose to share: when you share an outfit, we create a picture of it and a public page with its name, description and piece names. Anyone with the link can see it, and it can appear on sites where you post it, such as Pinterest. It never shows your name or email. You can remove a shared outfit any time from your Account page.
  • Early-access list: if you join it, your email address and where on the site you signed up, so we can tell you when there’s a spot for you. We email you about Lanea only, and you can ask us to remove you at any time.
  • Messages to us: anything you send when you contact us.
  • Plan and usage: whether you’re on the free trial or a member, and how many times a day you use features like outfit suggestions, so we can apply fair-use limits.

Information collected automatically

  • Login information: your browser stores a small amount of data so you stay logged in.
  • Usage analytics (only if you accept): Google Analytics collects information about how Lanea is used, such as pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location based on your IP address, and how you move through the app. We don’t send your name, email address, closet, photos or outfit requests to Google Analytics.
  • Technical logs: our hosting and database providers automatically record basic technical information, such as IP address, browser type and the time of a request, to keep the service running and secure.

How we use your information

  • To create your account and log you in.
  • To store and show your closet.
  • To suggest outfits from the items you own, and to fill in item details from a photo.
  • To remove the background from your clothing photos so outfits can be displayed as boards.
  • To send you login codes and important messages about your account.
  • To keep Lanea secure, prevent misuse, and fix problems.
  • If you allow analytics, to understand how Lanea is used and improve it.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We don’t use your closet, photos or requests to show you ads, and we don’t sell them.

Service providers we use

We rely on these companies to run Lanea. They process your information only to provide their service to us:

  • Supabase: stores your account, closet details and photos, and handles logins.
  • Vercel: hosts the Lanea website and app.
  • OpenAI: creates outfit suggestions and reads item details from photos. We send it your closet item details, your outfit request and, when you add a photo, that photo. Under OpenAI’s terms for business customers, this data is not used to train its models.
  • Photoroom: removes the background from your clothing photos.
  • Resend: sends login emails.
  • Google: Google Analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies, and Google sign-in, only if you choose “Continue with Google.”

Cookies and similar technologies

Lanea uses two kinds:

  • Essential: small pieces of data stored in your browser to keep you logged in and remember your choices, such as your cookie preference. Lanea can’t work without these, so they don’t require consent.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics cookies, set only after you click “Accept” in our cookie notice. If you decline, Google Analytics receives no cookies from Lanea.

You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.

We don’t sell or share your personal information

Lanea does not sell your personal information, and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California and other US state privacy laws. We don’t run ads in the app.

How long we keep your information

We keep your account and closet for as long as your account exists. When you delete an item, its details and photos are deleted. When you delete your account on the Account page, your account, closet and photos are deleted immediately. Copies may remain in our providers’ backups for a short period before they are overwritten, and we may keep information where the law requires it. Technical logs held by our providers are deleted automatically on their own schedules.

Your choices and rights

  • You can view, edit and delete the items in your closet at any time in the app.
  • You can delete your account and everything in it at any time on the Account page. You can also ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@lanea.app.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, such as the right to know what information we hold about you or to limit how it’s used. We honor these requests for all users, wherever you live.

We will respond within 30 days and may need to confirm your identity first, usually by checking that the request comes from the email address on your account. We won’t treat you differently for using your rights.

Security

Your closet and photos are private to your account: access rules in our database and photo storage are designed so that only you can see them. Data is sent over encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children

Lanea is not intended for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us at hello@lanea.app and we will delete it.

For users in the European Union and United Kingdom

Cindy Brooks is the data controller for your personal information. We process it on these legal bases:

  • To provide the service you signed up for (performance of a contract): your account, closet, photos and outfit suggestions.
  • Legitimate interests: keeping Lanea secure and working properly.
  • Consent: Google Analytics, which you can accept or decline, and change at any time.
  • Legal obligations: where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.

Some of our service providers are based in, or store data in, the United States and other countries outside the EU. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

You have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your information, to restrict or object to its use, and to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. In Spain, that is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (aepd.es).

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let you know by email or in the app.
